Terms & Conditions
Last updated: February 2025
These terms govern the relationship between you (the customer) and Zero Gunk (the service provider) when you book any of our cleaning services. By booking with us, you agree to the terms below. We’ve written them in plain English because nobody enjoys reading legalese – but they’re still binding.
1. Company Information
Zero Gunk is an oven and kitchen appliance cleaning company based in Manchester, serving Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
- Website: zerogunk.com
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: 07520 692 403
We carry full public liability insurance. Proof of insurance is available on request.
2. Booking & Appointments
Bookings can be made by phone, email, or through the contact form on our website. A booking is confirmed once we’ve agreed on a date, time, and service with you – either verbally or in writing.
We operate Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm. We do not work on Sundays or bank holidays unless separately agreed in writing.
We aim to arrive within the agreed time window. If we’re running late (traffic, a job overrunning), we’ll call you as soon as we know. If the delay is significant and doesn’t work for you, we’ll reschedule at no charge.
3. Cancellations & Rescheduling
We understand plans change. Here’s how cancellations work:
- More than 24 hours notice – No charge. We’ll reschedule or cancel without any fee.
- Less than 24 hours notice – We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the quoted price. This is because the slot is very difficult to fill at short notice and our technician has already allocated time for your job.
- No-show (no contact) – If we arrive and you’re not home with no prior communication, the full quoted price may be charged.
If we need to cancel or reschedule, we’ll give you as much notice as possible and rebook at a time that works for you. We won’t charge you anything if the cancellation is on our end.
4. Pricing & Payment
All prices listed on our website and quoted over the phone are final. There are no hidden charges, no call-out fees, and no surcharges for weekend bookings.
In rare cases, the scope of work may change once we’ve inspected the appliance (for example, if you’ve described a single oven but it turns out to be a double). If the price needs adjusting, we’ll explain why and get your agreement before we start. You’re never obligated to proceed.
Payment is due on completion of the work. We accept:
- Cash
- Bank transfer (details provided on the day)
Invoices can be provided on request for landlords, letting agents, and commercial customers.
5. Our Service & What We Do
We provide professional cleaning of ovens, hobs, extractors, microwaves, BBQs, AGAs, range cookers, and other kitchen appliances as described on our website and agreed at the time of booking.
All products we use are non-toxic, biodegradable, and fume-free. They are safe to use around children, pets, and people with respiratory sensitivities.
We fully disassemble removable oven components (racks, trays, door glass panels, fan covers) and clean them using our heated dip tank system. The oven cavity is hand-cleaned with specialist non-caustic paste.
A few things to be aware of:
- We cannot guarantee the removal of every single stain. Some discolouration – particularly on enamel linings that have been burnt at high temperatures over many years – may be permanent. This is cosmetic rather than a hygiene concern.
- We will not force or remove components that appear damaged, corroded, or at risk of breaking. If we spot something like this, we’ll let you know before proceeding.
- Your oven is safe to use immediately after we finish. No waiting period required.
6. Access & Working Conditions
We need the following to carry out the clean:
- Access to the oven and surrounding work area
- The oven must be switched off and cooled down before we arrive
- Reasonable access to a water supply (if not available, we carry our own)
- Enough floor space nearby to set up our equipment and protective sheeting
Someone aged 18 or over must be present to let us in and confirm the work required. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room – we work independently.
We lay protective floor coverings in the work area and take care not to mark walls, worktops, or flooring. We clean up after ourselves before leaving.
7. Damage & Liability
We take every precaution to avoid damage. However, ovens – particularly older models – can have pre-existing weaknesses that aren’t visible until disassembly.
Here’s how we handle damage:
- Pre-existing damage: Before starting, our technician will note any visible damage or wear. If we spot a component that looks fragile (cracked glass, corroded hinges, brittle seals), we’ll flag it and discuss the risk with you before touching it.
- Damage caused by us: If our technician damages something during the clean, we take full responsibility. We’ll either repair or replace the damaged component, or reimburse you for the cost. This is covered by our public liability insurance.
- Damage not caused by us: We are not liable for pre-existing faults, normal wear and tear, manufacturer defects, or failures that occur after we leave due to the age or condition of the appliance.
Our liability is limited to the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged part, or the total cost of the service – whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect losses (for example, food spoilage due to an oven being temporarily out of use).
8. Customer Responsibilities
By booking with us, you confirm that:
- You are the owner of the appliance, or you have the owner’s permission to have it professionally cleaned
- The oven is in a generally functional state (we clean ovens, we don’t repair them)
- You’ve informed us of any known faults, damage, or concerns before the appointment
- The working area is reasonably accessible and safe
If we arrive and find conditions that make it unsafe or impractical to proceed (gas leak, no power, blocked access), we reserve the right to decline the job. No charge will apply in this case.
9. Complaints & Disputes
We take complaints seriously. If you’re not happy with the work, here’s what to do:
- Tell us straight away: Ideally before our technician leaves. If there’s something we’ve missed, we’ll address it on the spot.
- Contact us within 48 hours: If you notice an issue after we’ve left, email [email protected] or call 07520 692 403 within 48 hours. Photos are helpful.
- Resolution: We’ll arrange a follow-up visit at no extra cost, or issue a partial/full refund depending on the circumstances. We handle every complaint individually and fairly.
Complaints raised more than 7 days after the service will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but we may not be able to take responsibility for issues that could have arisen independently after that time.
10. Data Protection & Privacy
We collect your name, address, phone number, and email address when you make a booking. This information is used solely to arrange and carry out your appointment, send you reminders, and follow up if needed.
We do not share, sell, or pass your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
If you’d like us to delete your information from our records, email [email protected] and we’ll action it within 14 days.
We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website at the time of your booking is the one that applies to your appointment. We won’t apply changes retrospectively.
If we make significant changes, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
Questions About These Terms?
If anything’s unclear, just ask. Call us on 07520 692 403 or email [email protected]. We’d rather explain something twice than have you agree to something you’re not comfortable with.
