We can, and we regularly do. The pyrolytic function handles light residue reasonably well, but it doesn’t reach into door glass panels, rack runners, or the areas around the fan housing. Our manual clean gets into all those spots the self-clean cycle misses, and it does so without the extreme heat that can sometimes damage door seals over time.

For a household that cooks daily, every six to twelve months is a good interval. If you use the oven less frequently – perhaps a couple of times a week – once a year is usually sufficient. Heavy roasting and grilling builds up grease faster, so adjust based on how you actually use the oven rather than following a fixed schedule.

We’re used to working in compact spaces. A lot of the terraced houses in Cale Green have galley-style or narrow kitchens, and we’ve adapted our process to suit. The dip tank stays outside – on a driveway, patio, or rear yard – and we only need enough floor space in the kitchen to access the oven itself. It’s rarely an issue.
